Overview
This trail is going to take you straightaway 1500 years back in timelapse when a place
called Badami was capital of mighty Chalukya Kings.
Badami is a place in a Bagalkot district in Karnataka where Chalukyasrulers emerged in
the 6 th century. They chose Badami as their capital and hence this town came to the utmost
importance. This place's earliest mention dates back to the age of Puranas. Chalukya rulers built
and carved some marvellous monuments, which in return made Badami famous.
Badami has also been famous for the native goddess, Banashankari. Just 5 km away from
Badami, there situated a beautiful temple of Banashankari Devi and a magnificent water tank in
front. This deity is revered by many people across India and an important place for worship.
Apart from Badami, Chalukya rulers have left their mark on nearby area as well. Amon
which Pattadakal is a magnificent World Heritage Site and Aihole is believed to be an early
native of Chalukyas. Visiting and understanding these sites is truly an astounding experience.

DETAILED ITINERARY
Reach Badami by morning by AC train. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel at Badami and relax.
In the second half, , visit the Badami museum and temple and spend the remaining evening at the serene Agastya lake.

Get ready with the fresh morning. After breakfast, let’s explore Badami caves. In the caves, you will see some beautifully carved gigantic sculptures. Let’s understand the history behind it.
After lunch, visit Mahakuteshwar temple. Understand the legacy of the Chalukyas and the ancient history of Mahakoot.
Return to the hotel by evening and relax.

After breakfast, leave for another marvel built by Chalukyas. Visit Pattadakal, a World Heritage Site. Pattadakal is a vast complex that is filled witha variety of temples. After understanding the temples at Pattadakal, move onto the next site, Aihole. This is another important site to understand Chalukya art and architecture.
After an excursion to Aihole, return to Badami by evening.
