Bhopal …!
The capital of Madhya Pradesh, a city of lakes, and a site that was famous as a part of King Bhoj's kingdom of the Parmar dynasty, a thousand years ago.

Bhopal is surrounded by a rich heritage of our country and here is a chance of having a glance at this rich heritage.
We begin our journey with Bhimbetka. From a habitat that is more than 10000 years old, we truly traverse through huge and different times of history. From Bhimbetka to Sanchi to Vidisha and Bhojpur. A big span of 11000 years.
It’s always mesmerizing to see traces of human life from so long ago because it brings our lives and heritage into a clear perspective.

DETAILED ITINERARY

Arrive Bhopal by afternoon. Upon arrival, check in to the hotel and time will be spared to relax, to have lunch. Post lunch, we will visit State Archaeology Museum and Manav Museum at Bhopal.
Evening at leisure. Let’s go on a food trail of local delicacies.

Highlights

  • State Archaeology Museum of Bhopal is one of the state of art museum in India. It holds thousands of rare sculptures, manuscripts and much more. Witnessing some of the unique iconographies at this museum is truly an experience.
  • Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalay or National Museum of Humankind at Bhopal is an anthropology museum and displays the evolution of humans through ages. Apart from that, it showcases the culture of diverse tribes living in the remote places of India. It is indeed a learning experience at this museum.
  • Bhopal is well-known for delicious sweets and food. Visiting Bhopal and not relishing these delicacies would be true injustice to yourself. So walk on the streets of Bhopal and have an amazing food trail.

We will begin our second after a delicious breakfast. Later, proceeding ahead in the tour, we will leave for Bhimbetka. Here we will witness the art which was left behind by primitive humans. Later we will visit the Bhojpur Temple, built by Raja Bhoj. Return to Bhopal in the evening.

Highlights

  • Bhimbetka is a site where we get to see the trails of primitive humans even today. A site declared as WORLD HERITAGE SITE by UNESCO consists of numerous rock shelters spread across the sanctuary. Drawings drawn by a man ten thousand years ago are still visible among these rock shelters. These are some remarkable drawings and we can just imagine the living of a man ten thousand years ago.
  • Visit Bhojpur. King Bhoja erected a humongous temple of Shiva at Bhojpur. Not only it is the temple that stuns the viewer, but the massive Shivlinga equally plays the role. Though incomplete, it is a treat to witness this magnificent temple when you are in and around Bhopal.

On this day we will check out from the hotel after having breakfast. Leave for another mesmerizing Buddhist site of Sanchi, which is also a World Heritage Site. After understanding some Buddhist history and the significance of this beautiful monument we will visit an important city of ancient times – Vidisha. Here, we will visit the pillar of Heliodorus and ruins of Beejamnadal Temple
After sightseeing, we check in to the hotel at Sanchi and relax.

  • Visit Sanchi Stupa. A World-famous Buddhist Site.

Today we visit 5th century Udaygiri caves in the morning and later proceed to Gyaraspur , an unexplored destination but rich in heritage. A day will be spent at Gyaraspur understanding the legacy of 11th century ruins of the temple and an intricate iconography. we will return to the hotel by evening and relax.

Highlights

  • The Udaygiri caves near Vidisha dates back to 4th - 5th century CE and displays some magnificent piece of art belonging to Gupta dynasty.
  • Gyarsapur was a flourishing town which held numerous temples. unfortunately, after invasions, ruins have remained of this prosperous history.

Its time to end the tour. But we will not finish it without having a look at one of the best specimens of temples that is situated in Udaipur. It's a Nilkantheshwar temple. Here, we will understand the history, architecture, and exquisite iconography of this style.
Later, we will drive to Bhopal for our return journey and end this incredible tour.
Board the late evening flight/train and arrive home with rich heritage experiences and beautiful memories to cherish.

  • Nilkantheshwar Temple - 11th century temple built by one of the Parmara dynasty king. The temple though mutilated, is still standing tall and displays the great architecture of the era.

FEW POINTERS

  • If any sightseeing mentioned is not done due to any unforeseen circumstances then an alternate sightseeing will be done.
  • A traveler may please note that for domestic and international flights, the baggage allowance will be as per respective airline’s baggage policy and weight regulations. Travelers are requested to carry their luggage in accordance with the regulated baggage allowance. Excess baggage will be chargeable and the same is not included in the tour cost. It has to be borne by the traveler.
  • Air tickets issued at special rates are normally NON REFUNDABLE and traveler will need to bear the cancellation charges. If a traveler needs an air booking with the refundable option then he/she will need to bear extra fare specified by airline operator.
